To setup Outlook Express 5.x or 6.x on a PC:
- In Outlook Express, select Accounts from the Tools menu.
- Click the Mail tab to make it the active window.
- Select Add and then Mail which will start a wizard-based
process.
- Type Your Name as you wish it to be displayed on outgoing
messages and then click the Next button.
- Verify that "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use"
is checked and then enter your Internet E-mail address in the field
provided in the format "username@sc.rr.com." When complete, click the
Next button.
- In the E-mail Server Names window, select POP3 from the
drop-down list.
- Enter pop-server.sc.rr.com in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or
HTTP) server field.
- Enter smtp-server.sc.rr.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
field. Click the Next button when done.
- Enter your username in the POP Account Name Field and your
password in the password field. If do not wish to supply your password each
time you check for incoming mail, verify that the Remember password
box is checked. If you have forgotten your password, or wish to change it,
visit the Road Runner Password Reset
Tool.
- Click the Next button and the wizard will save your settings and
return to the Internet accounts window.
- Note that the Account Name that is displayed by default is the
name specified as the incoming (POP3) mail server, which would be
pop-server.sc.rr.com.
- The Type of account (mail) is automatically displayed for you and
the Connection type specified is automatically set for you as Any
Available.
- To edit or change the settings for an account, click to highlight the
account name and then click the Properties tab.
- Verify that the General tab is displayed. If you wish to change
the Account name to a more easily recognizable or "friendly name" (for
example, Road Runner), change the name displayed in the Mail Account
field.
- If you wish to edit your name and e-mail address settings, use the
fields provided under User Information.

Note: Enter your username followed by @sc.rr.com in the E-mail
address: and Reply address: fields.
- Click the Apply button. If you do not wish to edit information on
other property tabs, click the OK button.
- To edit the mail server address information, select the Servers
tab.
- Verify that the Incoming Mail (POP3) field displays
pop-server.sc.rr.com
- The Outgoing mail (SMTP) field should display
smtp-server.sc.rr.com.
- The Account name should display your username.
- If you have elected to save your password, it is displayed as asterisks.
If you are entering your password in this field for the first time or
replacing it, it will display as asterisks.
- When done, click the Apply button and then the OK button.
